Here at foreverblackeffusion we love to show postive images of black people, from beautiful black women, handsome black men to images of black love so who better for us to interview than Sagecausie a photographer from Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA who takes amazing pictures of beautiful black women and black couples, we caught up with her just in time for Valetines Day as she promotes her new projects focusing on black women and black love.

What inspires you as a photographer?
My inspiration for my photographer comes from the pictures I see on tumblr, pinterest, or anywhere where I can find a picture of art. I see a lot of inspiration in high fashion photographs, things people my age aren’t used to seeing. I feel that everyone my age takes pictures of the same things, a pretty girl on the beach, on the railroad tracks. No one takes the time to make art.

What made you start taking photographs?

I started taking pictures in highschool so I have been doing it for a while but I just started really getting into my photography.

Among your works which one is you favourite?

My favorite picture so far has to be the poetic justice picture that I took that started going tumblr crazy. That was my first picture to go viral.

What work has influenced you the most?

I would say the work of Orinary has influenced me the most. I don’t try to replicate his shots but I do love the way he captures pictures so I kind of look up to him a huge way. I actually meet him once, real cool guy and I def recommend everyone to check out his work on instagram.

Has social media played a role in your photography?

Social media has REALLY helped my photography, I associate at least 80% of my success to it. Of course overall it has been God who has helped me get my message out but a lot of my work has gone viral due to social media. Especially the black love pictures.

Do you have a favourite project?
My favorite project so far has been my 50 Shades of Chocolate, which answers your next question about why I always take pictures of black models. I feel like dark skinned female models are looked at as the bottom of the barrel. It’s only till recent that we started to have a voice and you start to see more love for dark skinned girls. I started my 50 Shades of Chocolate Series to highlight the beauty in the melanin. It’s for the “you’re pretty for a dark skin girl,” the “she would be cute if she was lighter” and “i don’t do dark girls.”
